unpopular opinion: selena gomez deserves a supporting actress nomination

I know many people won’t agree but after watching Emilia Perez for the second time I really think Gomez deserves a supporting actress nomination. I understand the critiques people have over her Spanish speaking, but I think many people are not considering the fact that her character is an American woman who learned Spanish. I am an American who learned Spanish starting at 10 and I could understand her very well. I think anyone else playing Jesse could have made her feel very unimportant in the film but Gomez made a large impact with the screen time she had. Not to mention Bienvenida left me with goosebumps.

I know after SAG her chances aren’t very good, but I think that her performance shouldn’t be undermined in the way that it is
