I need a hint.

My guess is that this thing will lead me to the observatory(I could be completely wrong) and I need a way to reverse this because it’s going up. Can I have a hint? Also is this doesn’t even leave me to the observatory could yall give a vague hint of how to get there? I’ve only really explored brittle hollow so I’m guessing I need to leave and come back later.
