Jarace's Offensive Production

This is piggybacking off an earlier post about Jarace's playing time and his progression this season. As was noted on that post, recently he's made some big strides on the defensive end, but it seems like right now with everyone healthy he's the 11th man in a 10 man rotation.

Offensively there's been some good, some bad, and some ugly. One note on the stats below: Jarace hasn't played a ton of minutes this year and a decent percentage of those minutes have come in garbage time. So make of them what you will.

The Good: he's knocking down 3s. Pre-draft a knock on him was that he wasn't a reliable 3pt shooter. This year he's shooting 39% from 3 and he's getting them up at a per-possesion rate that's on par with Sheppard and Mathurin. He isn't drifting to the side like he used to and he looks confident taking them.

The Bad: Pre-draft another knock on him was that he had trouble finishing at the rim. Too often he settled for floaters instead of drawing contact or finishing through contact. This year he's shooting 60% on shots from 0-5ft which is the worst on the team. Also he never gets to the line, only 2.5 FTA per 36 mins, and when he does he's shooting 64%

The Ugly: He has the highest TOV% on the team, and his assist-to-turnover ratio is about 1.5-1.

Regarding the complaints around his playing time: if he makes improvements outside of on-court play he'll get more time. Coaches play players if they're good. Getting minutes does not lead to player improvement, players who are improving get more minutes.
