Anyone else struggle with starting a game while knowing there are earlier games in the series you haven't played?

I'm not sure why, but if I see a new game that looks really good and I want to play it I find it hard to get myself to play it while knowing there are earlier games in the series that have led up to it. Then I just say F it and don't play the game. Even on games where earlier games aren't that connected, I still feel this way. Anyone else?
