My new PC has been nothing but problems.
I got a pc about a month ago, for my birthday. It has an RTX 3070, a Ryzen 5 7600X and 32GB of DDR5 ram. Seeing as I spent a fair amount of money on this rig, I’d expect it to be able to play most games with no problem. Boy was I wrong.
If I wanna play even the slightest graphically demanding game, I have to go through at a minimum 2 hours of troubleshooting because it just refuses to work. I get error messages, my screen freezes, the list goes on. I have tried everything.
My drivers are fully updated, my RAM is running at the right speed, my games say they are “optimised” in the NVIDIA app but this seems to cause more problems than it solves.
Whenever I try and launch a game, my graphics card thinks that my monitors refresh rate and resolution is higher than it really is (it’s 1440p, 165hz, but it tries to run at 2160p 180hz), so I have to go change that.
Solutions online seem to be abundant, so I have to fend for myself.
I built this PC myself. The graphics card and CPU are second hand, but they both have warranty. Does anybody know how I can fix this, if there is some glaring issue I’ve stupidly overlooked, or specific settings I need to turn on.
For extra context: the games which aren’t running right are: Overwatch 2 (“Your rendering device has been lost! Application closing!”) Resident Evil 7 (“Fatal D3D Error 25”) NieR: Automata (Doesn’t give me an error message, game freezes but everything is running in the background (I can tell because the sound still works))
Right now I’m playing old games, that came out around 2010. This isn’t how I want to use my PC forever.
