Need Backup When Internet Goes Down

I have a work at home IT job with a major hospital, and in the event of whenever my internet goes down (Comcast, naturally), I have to drive to the nearest office to continue the shift there. This is no longer an option as said office is now filled to capacity, meaning we have to have our own backup plans ready to go in case of an emergency.

I tried before to use my phone as a hotspot for the laptop to connect to, but that didn’t work. I have a company-issued Meraki router that I had to connect to my modem (or in my case, a TP mesh extender), so that probably restricts what I can connect to.

I wanted to ask anyone in the know on what the easiest (and not costly) alternative I could have ready in case I need to switch to another internet source and continue working.
