Maggot Infestation
I’ve preferred Petco to other pet supply stores for years. I’ve even used their Whole Hearted brand for 5 years now. I had only ever bought their dry food but I recently started getting their wet food for my cats. Problem one arose when I opened the canned chicken and it smelled like a chemical bomb. If any of you have had the pleasure of getting and or smelling a perm you know exactly what I’m talking about. For those of you that haven’t been as fortunate allow me to describe it. It smelled like someone took dog shit, dipped it in a vat of toxic sludge and then lit it on fire. Nothing that’s sold as edible should smell like that. I messaged their customer service and never heard back. Few months went by I thought heck I’ll try again. Maybe it was a bad batch? But this time I try the broths instead. I opened the box to find…. ✨maggots✨ So of course we bring it back in. The wonderfully helpful clerk immediately refunded us and said that this is actually a really big issue they are having. Not only in the stores themselves but in the supply chain as a whole. Multiple times a week they are receiving pallets that are infested in maggots. It’s not just one brand either. They mentioned purina pro (a few others I can’t remember) and even finding them in the majority of their dog beds. The worst part is they said that Petco refuses to take accountability. Apparently they have no interest in hiring an exterminator and instead they are leaving that responsibility to their employees. I’ve given thousands upon thousands of dollars to Petco over the years. The last thing I want to do is walk into a maggot infested store. Anyways.. just thought people should be aware. Anyone have good luck with Chewys repeat delivery? I’ve had great experiences with their customer service.
