Some Filipinos don’t know what earphones are for
I have an Expat friend who moved to the Philippines a year ago and is currently living in a rural area. She thought living in the province, away from the hustle and bustle of Manila, was the right move. Everything was going great at first. Her neighbors seemed very friendly and welcoming. Then, she realized that every single one of them owned a karaoke machine. They’d do karaoke literally no matter what time of day, sometimes, for days on end. Now, she has complained about this but it seems like they aren’t stopping anytime soon. Entitled pos think they have every right to do what they want. “We’ve been around here longer. You’re not a local.”
Just what is up with these Filipinos and their fucking karaoke machines? How is something like this legal in this day and age? There’s a reason why this isn’t acceptable in developed countries. And that’s because it’s wrong. On so many levels.
It seems like some people here do not realize they can have fun without disturbing the peace. In Japan, people go to KTV bars when they want to do karaoke. They don’t even talk or take calls on buses and trains. They put on earphones when they want to listen to music. They know exactly what earphones are for. Apparently, some Filipinos don’t.
To anyone reading this, please educate yourself and the people you know. Do not buy a karaoke machine unless you have a soundproof room. And just because people have been doing something for a long time doesn’t make it right. Philippines may be a developing country (not a fan of ‘3rd world’) but no one has to act like it is. We are better than this. Get cultured. Respect. Keep singing in the shower.
