Podcasting without a crew?

I saw a thread below asking why so it takes many people to produce a podcast. It makes sense that popular, deeply researched podcasts need a crew of producers, writers, etc.

But … Could two friends grab a mic and shoot the breeze about anything for an hour? Not intended to make any money, sell ads etc..

Just to have something fun to do, very unserious.
