Traveling to Poland

I'm thinking about going to Poland in the year or next. I'm a 1/3 polish. Planning on visiting Warszawa and Koło as my family originated around those areas. Do a lot of you speak English? I've been told yes by my fellow soldiers who deployed there. What's the tourism like? And should I keep it a secret I'm an American soldier IE not showing my tattoos.
