Deli Slicer

Deli slicers are surprisingly affordable, and can change your sandwich game for life. You can grab one off amazon for typically around $60. That may seem rough at first, but you have to understand the payoff. A pound of deli roast beef at the grocery store is like 13.99. An eye of round roast costs 6.99 a pound. See where I'm going with this? The difference between the eye of round you buy, and the deli meat at the counter is simply that they put a bunch of additives and crap in it, and they slice it for you. If you're able to save just 6 bucks a pound, and you make your own deli meat rather than buy it from the store, you'll pay off the deli slicer in 10 weeks, and save money the rest of your life.

Here's the thing though... There are also meats you can buy, roast, and slice that they don't even sell at the grocery store! Get a wal-mart pork loin. 2.99 a pound. Roast that puppy (easiest method of cooking in the world, just look up some recipes and get a meat thermometer). And have roast pork (which is WAY better than you'd expect) or even do up a brisket or a turkey breast.

You can also use the deli slicer to slice bread homemade bread and blocks of cheese (which is usually cheaper and ALWAYS tastier than sliced or shredded).

I haven't bought sandwich meat in years, and all I do is SPG and toss the meat in the oven for 45 - 75 minutes depending on the cut.

Typically the ends of the roast don't make for the best slices, so I just chop them up and melt them into a grilled cheese. Best sandwich ever.
