How did my A1C go up??
In July I came back with a 5.7 A1C. Since then, I’ve made a ton of changes.
I’ve cut out soda, decreased dessert, switched my piece of dark chocolate to chocolate covered almonds, changes the order I eat things in (veggie, protein, starch/carb always), added in more veggies, reduced carbs, drink vinegar every morning, cut out caffeine, and I’m drinking more water. I’m getting more steps than I have in years. I can’t do strength training due to chronic pain/illness that I have.
With all these changes, Ive been feeling much better. I have more energy, I’m sleeping better, my anxiety has decreased. I stopped snacking because I’m actually staying full with steady energy in between meals.
I wore a CGM in August and September and my numbers were great. Never went above 140 post meals, average was around 110 by the end of wearing it. I felt confident enough to stop wearing it bc I had things under control. My habits haven’t changed since, other than adding in more steps.
I had my checkup A1C this week. I was SO confident going in to it and fully expecting to see a decrease out of pre-diabetic range. Instead, it came back as 5.8.
What. The. Hell??
I don’t get it. I made so many positive changes. I’m wondering if I need to start metformin to give my body some help.
