TW: 30 week delivery
Hi! Just looking for anyone who may have been in a similar situation as me and hopefully give me some relief.
I had an emergency C-section early this morning at 30 weeks pregnant. My placenta was detached and abrupted. My baby was born 3 lbs 9 oz. He didn’t cry when he was born which they warned us could happen and that he would probably be intubated, which he also was. His heart never stopped, but it was low, less than 60 BPM. After compressions and a dose of epinephrine, his heart rate was good above 150 BPM. They did compressions maybe for 5 minutes? My timing could be off since I wasn’t fully with it and when I asked the neonatologist he didn’t really give me an answer for how long. But it didn’t feel like it went on for a long time, probably under 10 minutes.
They told us that they can’t say right now, but there’s a chance there could be some amount of damage to the brain. They of course didn’t say it was for certain, they also said there could be nothing wrong at all. He has been moving and fighting so they did say that was a good sign.
I just wanna know did anyone have a similar experience? I know every baby is different and his outcome can be completely different from someone else in the same situation. This is my first baby and I’m just so worried about him, but I’m staying optimistic.
