Thoughts on casual retractable screen + 1080p projector setup for bedroom?

I'm looking for a casual moving watching setup in my room in lieu of a TV. I don't watch movies or TV unless it's with friends or dates, and I don't want a dark TV screen occupying my room - especially given the only place to put it is in front of the large window facing my bed.

Instead, I'm wondering if having a retractable projector above the window that I can pull down when I feel like watching something and hide when not in use is feasible. In the spirit of not blowing a hole in my wallet, I'd cast this with a mini 1080p projector. The combined cost of the screen and mini projector would be between $100-150.

I already know this setup would only work at night when the room would be dark enough to allow the cheapo projector to cast the image suitably.

Questions & Concerns

  1. To cover the window, I'd like to get a 70 inch screen. Would this be too large for the typical cheapo mini projector on amazon? Relevant to this question is part 2:
  2. The projector would Ideally be sat at the base of the bed, angled slightly upwards, roughly 10ft away from the window. Is this even an appropriate angle/distance to cast onto a large-ish screen? Alternatively, I could mount the projector above the bed 15ft away but parallel to the floor. Or worst case, I move it closer in the middle of the room at a sharper angle?
  3. Has anyone setup something like this before? Any recommended products or tips?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
