What are some Radiohead lyrics you think of often?

I think about lyrics a lot, and Radiohead's are no exception. They're aren't my favorite lyricists ever, but they can be so incredibly evocative at times. I can't help but hear some of their words bounce around my head.

I think "It barks at no one else but me, like it's seen a ghost" from The Tourist is my most commonly recurring lyric. It creates such an image. I know the typical reading of it is that "the tourist" is a worker who is never at home. So much so, his own dog doesn't recognize him. That's a fascinating concept. I always read it as a sort of disassociate state though. Like someone who feels entirely disconnected from reality, walking the dark streets in the rain. He sees a dog behind a chain link fence, its barking the first time he feels recognized by any outside perceptions. To me, that's how I've taken it and I find it chilling. Feeling like a ghost, recognized by nothing but an unfriendly dog is a really unique image.

Another is "because we separate like ripples on a blank shore, in rainbows." I always saw this as humanity's tendency to withdraw from each other. We're all water, but we separate on the shore because of our differences. But what ties us all together is our desire to live "in rainbows" - to find the best way, to strive for perfection. That dissatisfaction with the broken world has the ability to lead to greatness, to love. I've always found this stunningly beautiful, both in music and in lyric.

And lastly, "it's such a beautiful day" from Worrywort. So simple, but so comforting. Why worry? It's a beautiful day.

Anyway, what about you? I love talking Radiohead lyrics and could probably list ten more.
