Online gaming culture is dead
Not sure how much of a rant this is, but this is the only sub I could think to post this. Online gaming feels so unfun these days. Like I enjoy the games themselves, but the second you're playing with other people, it just feels like you get punished for being good at them. For the past decade it just feels like if you play a game, get good, and keep playing, you eventu9get lumped into these lobbies of people who treat everything like a championship tournament. I get that everyone likes winning, but sometimes I just want to play the game and chat and chill with everyone else. And if a game is popular, it feels like this to the Nth degree. The game stays relevant for a while, then players leave because it's ruined by the overcompetitveness of the other players and you're just left with a sweatfest of basement dwellers that slowly concentrates into a more and more depraved group of toxic rejects of society.
Online gaming culture seems to be a breeding ground for toxic interaction and games aren't played for the enjoyment anymore. I just want to play games online and make friends again, but I can't because of how they all end up being so hardcore. ;n;
