My small gripe with the series… and wondering if anyone else shares the same thought?

Edit: Thank you everyone for your answers. It seems like I am going to get what I want in the later books. Y’all saying it’s gonna be darker? wtf, isn’t this dark enough already 😭

TLDR: Darrow has too much plot armour which makes me feel the series falls short of its potential (but still a really awesome series)

I just started Morning Star, and I must say this series so far has been amazing. As a slow and not a big fictional reader this series has kept me engrossed and I have throughly enjoyed Pierce Brown’s writing style.

Having said that, I have a small gripe with the series and was wondering if anyone else feels the same…. Do people feel that Darrow has too much of Plot Armor? I feel like he is always the hero of the fights, no matter how gruesome his sufferings are you know he is gonna come up so it removes the tension or feel for it? This plot armor takes away the opportunity to keep readers even more on their toes and also misses out on the opportunity in developing the side characters and other characters in the universe (sharing the success)

I guess A song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones has spoilt that for me but yeah… just a personal opinion (please don’t attack me, I love the series lol. Just wanted to start a discussion)
