How to best progress?

I’m about 5 hours into the game and made it to Nightweaver. Having trouble so I’m assuming I should probably back up and “farm” from what I’ve read in here. I’m power level 3 as a hunter. I picked up the AK type long gun.

Is this a git gud situation and figure out the Nightweavers patterns? Or do I just travel to places I’ve been and farm the mobs hanging around?
