Air cooled travel SFF PC
Hi sweet people,I would like your opinions and help with component recommendations.
After a week of looking around in blogs and youtube, I can formulate my post knowing what is possible and what is available. This is my first post here, and my first sff build. I want to build a gaming rig that can be backpacked when traveling.
I currently reside in Germany and will do my shopping here.
component wise I am thinking about: intel 12700k, RTX 3070 (TI/without), and possibly ASUS ROG STRIX B660-I mobo for ddr5 future proofing; and knowing that ddr4 32GB pair is similar in price to a 32GB ddr5 pair here.
Goals of my build (highest priority first):
- Smallest form factor possible especially width (backpack-able)
edit: by backpackable I meant that can fit in a backpack or camera bag for a while...until I pass check-in to be exact, then I would tuck the PC in my carry-on. - Air cooled, I will be traveling twice per year (so 4 flights back and forth) and I don't want to risk an AIO causing trouble passing airport security checks, I thought about taking the cooler off before every flight but that will be a hassle with an sff and might damage the cooler
- thermals can bear gaming on 1080p and 1440p, and sometimes cpu heavy work (like running containers/VMs)
I like the astetics of aluminum cases like the A4-H2O, LOUQE GHOST S1 (expensive), Rocket V2 (skeptical about the thermals).Q58, ssupd meshlicious, and hyte revolt 3 would be considered if the above do not work.
The A4-H2o is deigned for an AIO with the sandwitch layout and can only support up to 55mm CPU cooler.would the below coolers be enough coupled with 2 * 120mm fans on the top?
- EKL Alpenföhn Ridge CPU cooler - 120mm
- Thermalright CPU Cooler AXP-100C65
- Thermalright AXP-90 X53
- Noctua NH-L9a-AM4
- Noctua NH-L9i-17xx
I am also reading about undervolting and deshroud mod. and learning about fan orientation and what's recommended for the final setup (sides intake and top exhaust maybe?)
Thank you 🙏🏻
