Does anyone else get through age gap mangas by pretending they’re closer in age?

I read a lot of manga without knowing what it’s about, and most of the ones I’ve read involve age gaps. I loved Tsubaki-Chou lonely planet! But I pretended he was 20 instead of 28 since that felt more acceptable to me. Does anyone else do that? I have such a guilty conscious while reading them but I’m determined to finish a series once I start it.
