Silent Hill has given me the nostalgia I couldn't get from the original.
This is going to sound a little off the wall, so hang with me for a minute.
I'm a 34 year old man, I played silent Hill when I was about 14. I'm a horror fanatic and loved silent Hill as a teen.
About 4 or 5 years ago I decided to play the game again, party for nostalgia and partly because the game is so good and I have fond memories of it.
However, when replaying the game the graphics felt basic and like something from a mobile game or something. This is not me saying anything negative about the original, it's a masterpiece.
What I do find though, and I'm sure some people who have been gaming for a very long time will agree with is that when you were played a game, say 20 years ago, at the time the graphics seemed life like, cutting edge and super realistic.
On the other hand when you return to said game a decade or two later the graphics look very basic and it's nothing like how you remembered.
The weird thing here is the Silent Hill 2 remake is actually more similar to how I remember the original being, than the original itself? If that makes sense?
Like as in I didn't feel nostalgic from the original because it's so different than I remembered, but the remake is exactly how the original was remembered in my head from my teens.
Not sure if anyone can relate or if that makes sense, and the post is probably longer than it needs to be due to the weed I just smoked but that's my two cents.
