What’s up with the people selling Amway goodie bags?

Multiple times in the last few weeks self-proclaimed international students have approached me and have been asking me to support their cause. Last time it was for disabled children. They say if I donate I can receive their little bag, I analyzed it the last time I was approached and saw that all the products inside were branded Amway. What is up with this, and why Amway? I can’t figure out what Amway is for sure when I look it up, some people are saying pyramid scheme but that seems like a stretch. Are these people actual students or are they just imitating students to get support from their “peers”.

Also has anyone supported them? If so, do they just leave after or do they try to converse with you more. Just wondering as it’s been occurring a lot more often lately. Thanks!
