S-Corp Health Insurance?
I am just starting a single member LLC and my CPA has me filed to be treated as an S-Corp.
My question is regarding changing my health insurance off of the ACA now that I no longer qualify based on my income.
Do I need to sign up for health insurance under the name of my business? Or does simply paying my premiums out of my business account/business credit card count? I’ve only ever seen signing up for a plan as an individual and not a business. Note I don’t have any employees and it’s just me, so I don’t need a group plan or whatever.
Second, as an S-corp, I have a “reasonable salary”, and can also take distributions.
When I look at health insurance plans and they ask my monthly income, does that include distributions or just my salary? Distributions won’t be consistent from month to month, so if they did count it’d be hard to estimate an accurate monthly income.
I’ve contacted my CPA and will be making a bunch of phone calls on Monday but my mind is spinning so I’m posting this for some peace of mind before seeking answers from better (no offense redditors) sources.
