Controls not working on only one game?

Hey everyone!

Recently just acquired a SNES and a bunch of games. I have tried out all of the games I own with the same controllers and they all work fine except for The Adventures of Dr. Franken, which boots up and runs the demo just fine but for some reason, the controls just do not work. I cannot scroll on the menu and Start/A does not begin the game.

Here’s some info:

• The controllers are 3rd party, so not authentic Nintendo. However, they have worked on every other game I own without issue.
• I’ve cleaned the game, game port and controller ports. As I said, the game boots up fine but does not allow me to control anything.
• The only other thing I could think of would be that the game is a fake, but it’s not a rare/expensive game (so assuming it’s pointless to fake). It has the number stamped into the back, metal screws, shell feels/looks right but the labeling is off centered and thus could be fake.

Does anyone have an idea why this would be happening? Is this just a fake cart? Worst case I can just buy another copy of this game and try that but just wanted to see if I was missing something.
