Keeping track

So I'm on a (very long-term) mission to collect and read every adult/young adult Star Wars novel published, both Legends and Canon (up to RotJ), in a chronological order I myself made. Later on I might add comics to it, but I'll be taking it one step at a time. I'm currently reading TCW: No Prisoners, and recently I've been thinking to myself: how can I keep track of all of these books? As in, how can I remember the main characters, places, and events from each book and how they interact with galactic history? For example, Pellaeon is a character in No Prisoners, and when I get to Heir of the Empire, I want to be able to come back to this book and quickly remember him and his goals/personality/etc.

My initial thought was to literally make a compendium detailing all of the above aspects of each book, adding the novels as I read them. I even went so far as to consider doing chapter summaries for every single one. While the chapter summaries don't sound like much fun at all, I actually really enjoy making lists and graphs and the like, and want to be able to check in on a certain book's plot quicker than having to skim its entire Wookiepedia entry. I also find writing things out helps me commit them to memory.

Another smaller dilemma related to this one: if I do end up going through with making a list or something similar, I don't really want to interrupt my chronological reading to go back and re-read everything before No Prisoners (especially Jedi Trial...). I'm sure reading the Wookiepedia summaries for these ones would be adequate until I get back to reading the timeline all over?
