My milkshakes

This is the finished product. I like to get blasted and make milkshakes for everyone in the house. This one is a fan favorite, nutty buddy with vanilla ice cream.

Recipe Real vanilla ice cream. I like the really firm Publix brand in the half gallon size. I do 2 scoop shakes most of the time with the scoops being roughly the size of a racquetball.

1 nutty buddy. One bar goes into the shake, broken in half with a glob of peanut butter between the pieces. This is important because you don't want the pb to all get trapped in the blades of the mixer. The second bar is saved as a garnish to go in the top.

1 hefty teaspoon of your favorite peanut butter. As mentioned, this always goes between the nutty buddy (or between two Oreos if that's what I'm making)

This all goes into the plastic mixing cup that came with the immersion blender. I put marks on the cup for the different size glasses that I use. The numbers on the cup are clear and hard to read after you're high....I mean after there's ice cream in the cup

Squish the ice cream and stuff down to nearish the line and fill to the line with milk. You can always add more and the nutty buddy is mostly air so it's going to soak up the milk. I personally like shakes you can drink with a regular straw. If I need a spoon, it's just a copycat sonic blast.

I've used various mixers over the years. I've had a magic bullet, which is ok but gets really messy if you make more than one shake. I really like immersion blenders for shakes and have gone through a few. This KitchenAid is my favorite so far and can be had on sale for $40-45. https://a.co/d/4Kpr2Er

Make sure to get to the bottom of the cup, but go slowly and mix the whole way down. Clogging up the blades is how you break these. Ask me how I know. Immersion blenders let you see the consistency. Blend until it looks good. You want it to be pourable.

Pour into a frozen glass and stop a thumb width or so from the top. You need need enough space for the other nutty buddy bar (or Oreo) to displace some milkshake. A blob of rediwhip on one edge of the top will help glue the nutty buddy in place. Submerge the nutty buddy until the shake is about to the rim of the glass. Top with rediwhip.

Optional....If you're super high, it's always acceptable to just keep it all in the mixing cup and fill the rest of the way with rediwhip.

Also, the nutty buddy or Oreo are way easier to eat while they're at the top of the glass. I drink enough shake to use the cookie to stir the whipped cream into the shake and eat the cookies while they still have some crunch.
