Reasons to stop drinking

I’m really struggling right now and can’t make it to a meeting. 7 days sober after a relapse last week. Please, share your reasons not to drink, as my judgement is clouded at the moment.

Update: Thanks to everyone here on this sub; you’ve really helped me out. Thankfully getting to a meeting today. Here are my reasons:

  • I can reliably be there for my friends and family
  • I’m way more in touch with with my emotions, moods, and mental state, however difficult that may be at times
  • I’m not at risk for picking up (I have a drug problem) and getting myself in harms way
  • I can drive
  • I don’t have to worry about losing my job, getting a DUI, or any other trouble
  • I’m saving a ridiculous amount of money
  • My co-occuring disorder is not flaring up as much
  • I look and feel better
  • I’m present for and an active participant in my own life while not drinking
  • I trust myself, at least, a bit more than when I was drinking. This one may take time.

Thanks again - ya’ll got me through a shift where I easily could have relapsed.
