Is fomo a real thing?

Yes i know I posted earlier today but I have a question...is FOMO (fear of missing out) a real thing or is it just something we tell ourselves so we have an excuse? Seeing my parents sit down with a beer or wine whatever else, and my brain is like 'well ur not hungover anymore you can drink' I don't want to, but yeah, is it just something we tell ourselves or is an actual thing?

Instead of having a drink, i'm sat watching the twins with a cup of tea next to me and doing colour by number book (the one i said has 210 pages). Happy New Year everyone,xx
