Missing Locker Unit Auction Items

I recently won a storage auction through StorageTreasures and when I went to retrieve the unit there was a ton of missing items that were in the photo. I took some stuff out to look around to see if it was somewhere else but a lot if not most of the valuable stuff that was in the auction pictures were gone. I took picture with everything in the unit and it’s drastically different from the auction photos with a lot less in there. I did not leave with any items and put everything back. The storage facility said since I took stuff out to look around that there’s nothing they can do and are keeping my $500 I paid for it. Any ideas on how to fight this? I’m continuing to push and have reached out to StorageTreasures but that’s only an email service. My next action was to bring in the police? Any ideas?
