Novels reminiscent of David Foster Wallace and Nathan Hill.
I hope this request isn’t asked TOO much on this subreddit.
Recently I’ve been trying to shy away from the fantasy novels of Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, and have been thinking about a lot of the “intellectual” literary fiction stunners I’ve read, and I’m now craving and on the hunt for more books like Broom of the System and Infinite Jest, both of which I absolutely loved back when I read them.
I love thicker novels and I love a book that draws me in and doesn’t feel like the same generic story reread over and over again. I want to feel like I’m learning something, even if I’m really not.
I’ll leave some examples of authors and books I’ve read that fit well within what I’m trying to read more of: A Naked Singularity by Sergio de la Pava; Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, currently reading The Nix by Nathan Hill and finding myself very much enjoying it; The Rabbit Hutch by Tess Gunty; anything by Don DeLillo or Jonathan Franzen.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
