How would Superman work in Matt Reeves' Batman Universe?

Matt Reeves' films in his Crime Family Saga have all been astounding. I know James Gunn would not allow another Superman while filming his Superman film for the DCU but if Matt got the go-ahead to do a Superman film set in his universe I wonder how he would approach it. As the universe is mean't to be a grounded world.

My pitch: The Shawshank Redemption with Flashpoint Superman. Imagine an Alien baby travels and lands into field in Kansas, but instead of landed safely, it crash-lands and caused a meteoric impact. The government seals that place off and it becomes an Area 51 like location. Superman grows up in captivity, he's never seen the sun, and he grows up with other meta-humans, this place is like a containment city, he's been told that he carries an alien pathogen and that sunlight triggers its reaction. We then follow him as he plans his escape, and he eventually does. In the end he reaches the surface and jumps off the top, only to fly. This story is as grounded as you can get with superman, not a lot of superpowers.
