Unknown exe got randomly downloaded by Firefox (Squarel_JhZjxa.exe)
As the title of the post says, the file suddenly appeared on my PC in my downloads folder. I don't remember downloading it nor even using Firefox at the time it says it was downloaded (but I could also possibly be mistaken). The only relevant lead I could find is that the updater for electron apps is called squirrel, but the names don't match fully, and I don't see why an electron app would download an updater through my browser.
I've also noticed multiple things I found weird about it. The signature date is only 6 hours before it got downloaded to my PC, which might make sense if it's a new update being released? The file name is Squarel but the file description says the product name is Squaler (the Legal trademark field says Squaler Data Store (C)). The file also says it was last accessed at 5:01 whilst I'm pretty sure I only noticed it a bit after that and it was downloaded almost 5 hours prior to that (maybe this was just some background process? But running a manual antivirus scan doesn't update this value so that's what's bothering me, idk what else could have updated it except it being run).
In Firefox I saw that it was downloaded from https://objects.githubusercontent.com/github-production-release-asset-2e65be (rest of the link omitted).
Scanning with Windows defender yields no results.
For now I'm leaning more towards it probably just being some weird coincidence since it doesn't seem malicious, but I'm very disturbed by how weird the whole situation is.
Edit: the name of the signer of the file is ConsolHQ LTD, which looks to be a UK firm incorporated in 2020 that has Lorem Ipsum on their site?
