How dangerous is it to walk along train tracks?

I wanna just follow. Follow the tracks sooooo far. Purely for the fun of it. But like, idk how dangerous that is- I don't exactly wanna get hit by a train.... ik it's a stupid idea, but like, HOW stupid?
