Any downsides to short style bridge?

I am thinking of building a partscaster using a solderless harness and a short style vintage bridge. This way (I think), I should be able to change pickups without removing the bridge plate and/or strings and quite easily try new pickups. I might have a pickguard, or get a body where I can just attach to the wood.

Are there any downsides to this kind of bridge? I’ve read some comments that it takes away the tele sound since the bridge and pickup together form their own magnetic field. At the same time, this sounds a bit like magical thinking that no-one really a/b tested. Grounding would be an issue I guess, since the pup doesn’t conect through metal, but the pup maybe could have a ground wire wound to one of the screws?

Anyway, just thought I would see if anyone has any experience or thoughts about these kind of bridges.
