Shows with characters like Ben Poindexter (Bullseye)?

I'm looking for any show where there is a similar character to Ben Poindexter. He's a psychopath, but the narrative initially presents him as this boy who is lost and kinda afraid due to being unable to emotionally connect with other people. He tries to follow a strict routine set by his psychiatrist to avoid falling into psychopathic tendencies but when it all falls apart, he goes evil. So he's scary and bad but also tragic because with the right strict guidance all of that murder might've been avoided. Bonus points if there's also a character who acts as a positive moral compass and tries to keep the psychopath in the right path (doesn't matter if they succeed or not). Thanks!
