Tips for attending first US Open
I’m planning to head to the US Open with my son. It will be my first Open, and my son’s first tournament though he plays USTA tournaments regularly. Wondering from you experts out there if you can help with any of the following:
how much do these three day / 4 session packages usually sell for? Trying to budget and I’m not sure if it’s $100 or $500
Any thoughts on which rounds are best to attend if you only have three days? Leaving towards 2 and 3rd rounds 28 - 30 of August
is it best to stay in manhattan or closer to the the stadium and LaGuardia? Thinking manhattan to also see some of the city, and subway would be 50 minutes or so
4.how do USTA members get their tickets early? Are those before the AmEx early tickets?
can I resell any of the sessions if I purchase a three day / 4 session ticket?
food prices are probably outrageous and I doubt we can bring food into the venue…anything close by or just “eat” the cost of eating in the venue?
Any tips to get my son more excited? He’s a teenager and doesn’t really watch the ATP tour but plays for his high school team (#2 last year) and does some usta junior tournaments
Any general advice or expectations to set?
