In Laws and Toddler Bedtime

How strict are you with bedtime when you have a babysitter? Our daughter is almost two, and we have no "village". My in laws live hours away, and we see them a few times a year. I'm determining how strict I need to be when we visit this Christmas.

Two times ago when they babysat: we came home early to get daughter around 7:45/8:00. They hadn't fed her dinner, even though she usually eats at 5:00. We had to drive her back, feed dinner, give her a bath, and quickly read a book. We got her to bed 30 minutes after normal bedtime.

Last time they babysat: we came home even earlier around 7:00 so we could manage bedtime. They had just left to take our daughter out to dinner. Didn't come home with her until 8:45. I quickly changed her into pajamas and got her to bed, again 30 minutes after bedtime.

What would you personally do? Be cool with them babysitting and accept late bedtime/late dinner/ no bedtime routine? Or be strict and stay home with daughter instead of going out?
