What happens if a child eats cat vomit

So my wife has two cats and long story short they throw up all over the house over night. This has become a point of tension because she doesn’t want to crate or quarantine them and I would rather not find out what happens our 8 month old (who just crafted crawling) gets ahold of and eats this puke. Just a general question. Has this happened to anyone? Is it dangerous? Should I call a pediatrician if it happens?
