Seeking Advice on Family Trip Itinerary: Hangzhou, Wuzhen, and Shanghai (22/12 - 28/12)
Excited to be planning this trip for my family. Have been thinking and researching on this since early of the year ! Appreciate if any veterans here can comment on my trip. :D
Participants:
- 2 elderly (>69 years old)
- 4 adults
- 2 children (7 & 3 years old)
Planned Dates:
- 22/12: ETA Hangzhou 07:35
- 24/12: Wuzhen
- 25/12: Shanghai
- 28/12: ETD Shanghai 16:05
Hotels (booked):
- Hangzhou: Between in77 Mall Block C2-C3
- Wuzhen: Xizha Scenic Area Guesthouse
- Shanghai: Near Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street
Itinerary (Suggestions Appreciated!)
22/12 (Sun):
- Drop off luggage at hotel, then quick nearby breakfast.
- Lingying Temple (or next day?) ➔ Tea drinking and lunch in Longjing Village (any recommendations?) ➔ SongCheng for the show ➔ Back to in77 area for dinner.
23/12 (Mon):
- Breakfast at hotel.
- Boat ride to 'Three Pools Mirroring the Moon' (三潭印月) ➔ climbing Leifeng Pagoda (mom's request) ➔ Optional: Nanping Evening Bell.
- Lunch at Lou wai lou (Mom's birthday treat) via tourist buggy/car, catching scenic views along the way.
- Afternoon: Flexible; considering Hefeng Street and former residence of Hu Xueyan (胡雪岩故居) (do they offer guided tours onsite?).
- Dinner around Hefeng Street.
- Optional: Wulin Night Market for those still energetic.
24/12 (Tue):
- Breakfast at hotel.
- Looking for suggestions for a quick tourist spot to visit in the morning.
- Head to Wuzhen via private car. Check-in and explore the scenic area. Any must-dos?
- Any recommendation on Hanfu (Traditional Clothes) rental ? On-site would be more expensive, but off-site will be troublesome to return I'd imagine.
- Looking forward just to chill in the scenic area
25/12 (Wed):
- Breakfast by the water (早茶客).
- Morning boat ride (to avoid crowds) & finish exploring Wuzhen.
- Check out, travel to Shanghai (ETA 3pm).
- Check in hotel, visit Jingan Temple for coin-tossing into the 3-story high cauldron, etc.
- Dinner: Any feedback on whether the Jingan area Ren He Guan 人和馆 can accommodate 6 adults and 2 kids? Otherwise, we'll try the main branch.
26/12 (Thu):
- For those aged <69, it's Disneyland day! Hoping for moderate crowds since it’s Boxing Day and a Thursday. Must-do rides: Zootopia & Pirates.
- Is it better to buy the premier pass in advance, or can I still get the 3 or 6 rides premier pass on the day?
- For my parents: Thinking of a one-day tour for them. No museums, maybe a unique experience or an ancient town (not a water town since we'll just be coming from Wuzhen). Any suggestions?
27/12 (Fri):
- Morning at Yu Garden area.
- Planning to book lunch at Gongyan 宫宴 (Oriental Art Palace).
- Free time afterward: some shopping, and I'd love to take in the scenery at The Bund.
- Evening ferry/boat ride.
28/12 (Sat):
- Relaxed breakfast and last-minute shopping around Nanjing East Road.
- Would like to experience the Maglev train to the airport.
- Do I need to book tickets in advance?
- How much time should I plan for the train ride to the airport?
Any advice on the itinerary would be greatly appreciated, especially things to see, and practical travel tips for a group of this size and age range. Thank you!
