Figured out how to completely stop my peeling, update to previous routine

Hi! It’s me again. ☺️ I previously posted in this sub about my retinoid journey and I was blown away by the kind comments! Thank you so much to this community for all the help!

Just wanted to give an update on my skin’s current condition. It’s been almost 8 months of using tret and my skin has completely stopped peeling! It actually stopped like late October but I wanted to monitor my skin over a longer period of time before posting again.

After my previous post, I decided to try switching my tret and moisturizer steps to see if that would give me better results. I worked my way up to buffering it nightly for a week before deciding to switch the order.

It went okay for 2 days and then on the third morning after applying my AM moisturizer my face started BURNING. Half my face was bright red. I probably gave myself a tret burn 😅. I knew the cause—niacinamide in my moisturizer. My skin stings/burns from it when it’s compromised. Decided to skip SPF (also has niacinamide) that morning since I wasn’t going out anyway and left my face alone. Skipped tret that night and just used a lot of moisturizer.

Weirdly enough the next day my skin felt almost back to normal and since I’m stubborn I just continued with my normal routine. For some odd reason, my face just completely adapted. Was able to use tret then moisturizer for 5 days consecutively before needing a night off. I’ve been using it nightly since.

I dunno if I’m imagining it but I think it made my skin clear up my acne marks faster and a bit glowier!

Still using mostly the same products since last time. I switched the order between tret and moisturizer at night + changed my SPF to one without niacinamide.

I’m really happy with my results! Can’t wait to see how it’ll be after a year!

Routine

Morning - wash with water - cosrx snail essence - finacea azelaic acid 15% - mary&may idebenone cream - beauty of joseon aqua fresh sunscreen (love this! It absorbs much faster than the OG rice sunscreen and not sticky at all!)

Night - hada labo cleansing oil - vanicream cleanser - tret 0.05% - isntree yam cream
