Serious question

I promise this isn’t me trying to be indelicate or controversial. I’ve just seen enough horror stories of people being fired from their jobs for things taken out of context. And maybe this has been discussed on here before. But my husband is a teacher so I wouldn’t want him to get into trouble for anything.

He’s going to dress like a Bishop for a convention (the rest of us will also be TØP characters and we’ll be with him the whole time so people will know we all go together). He was going to paint the bottom of his face black and the top white. Do you guys think there’s any way people will take that out of context and say he’s doing blackface? I know that an extremely nuanced topic and so I want to be sensitive. So that’s why I’m asking ahead of time. I don’t consider it to be that especially when it’s only half of his face, and is a character, but I also know things can be tricky so I was hoping for some input from the Clique.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just want to exercise an abundance of caution.
