Clancy is the undefined "place" that Tyler was searching out at the end of Trench

Credit to u/gelema5 for sharing this link to an interview with Tyler during the Trench era in another thread. Interview

In this interview about "Leave the City" and its implications on his faith, Tyler speaks about his struggles with believing in God and how Leave the City is actually about choosing to embrace those questions and venture off to something unknown to figure out exactly what he believes in and what anchors and inspires him. He finishes with this quote:

“Seeing the success in Blurryface: Is that something that changed in me?” he wonders aloud. “I can’t see it as a stop, because I have to fully believe I just might have to stay there. But once I live here more, when I make it out of Trench and I get to where I’m going and I know what the name is, I  wonder then if I’ll be more bold in my faith and what our purpose is being here.”

What if that place isn't really a place? What if it's yourself? What if it's not about an institution (Church --> Dema), and instead a personal realization of your own relationship to your faith, your potential and the people who count on you. What if the name of that "place" for Tyler is Clancy? A symbol of self-realization, purpose, perseverance, and a healthy relationship to self-doubt?

People often say that Clancy doesn't feel like a real resolution, and I tend to agree, but this helps me see more of a resolution through that meaning. A true foundation of strength, stability, and love isn't an institution (Dema) or a place (Trench), it's yourself (Clancy).

I've fallen in love with this idea. What do you all think? Am I onto something here?

Stay alive. Push on through. You're all the best :)
