Edward reading Rent-to-own’s thoughts?

Would this mean that Edward can read every baby’s thoughts? If so, I’m so curious about what form those thoughts take — thoughts without words are always fascinating to me! Are they just images or feelings? I would have loved to have some part of Midnight Sun have Edward reading a baby’s mind just for that description!!
