Uber driver won’t cancel without ride without pin.
I ordered an Uber package delivery to have a Christmas present sent to my family earlier today at 1pm today. The driver picked it up but after 30 minutes I had realized he had still not delivered it . It turns out he had gotten a flat tire. It is now 4:48pm, he still has my package and when I asked him to cancel the ride he said he needed the pin he would get once he delivered my packaged to cancel it. I just wanted to double check that this is necessary and that he’s not trying to screw me over? I am afraid to get charged a new crazy amount AND lose my package. Any advice would be really appreciated!
*update he has JUST cancelled the ride and Uber informed me by saying that he delivered the package but was unable to confirm the pin. I was charged 79$ instead of 35 and I’m out a Christmas present
*update i have been refunded by Uber for the trip! I’m still out a Christmas gift so I’m inquiring about that with Uber support but thank you all so much for the help!!
*update i will have to go get my package back from the driver myself and will be charged 20$ to do so. It seems like there’s nothing I can do about this, it really sucks. It wasn’t a particularly expensive present so I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just cut my losses and leave this alone. I at least got refunded for the price of the trip.
