The hard truth about adapting Until Dawn
One of the big movie leakers on Twitter stated this plainly in a way I couldn’t.
The game's storyline is intentionally a super generic horror scenario with the most basic characters in the world, it's the choose-your-own-adventure-ness that makes it worthwhile. With no control a straight adaptation would be boring to sit through.
“The movie has this mechanic where things start over and they get to try again. Every time they come back to life it’s like they’re in a new horror genre.”
I'm sorry but this idea is great and such a fun way to engage with what Until Dawn is.
