Fishing with nerds local ice fishing/bait presentation
So, I was just interviewed by CBC for a piece they're doing on ice fishing, and they connected me with another UW alumni who manufactures artificial bait, locally here in Waterloo. https://www.grumpybaits.com/ is his website.
I asked him if he would consider showing us around his facility; he suggested instead that he would do a presentation if we had enough students who would show up. He'd talk about his baits, how to ice fish, and (since he's a science nerd) some stuff about goby's being an invasive species. Then if anyone wants to buy his lures, he'll offer a student discount.
Location would be Natural Sports in Kitchener. Date is TBD, it will be evening of either February 15th or 16th.
So - if you're interested, please join this discord: https://discord.gg/CfED3y8xVV and post in the thread I created titled ice fishing lure presentation. I need to get an idea of how many people would be coming so we can firm up if we're got enough people to do it.
Fine Print: I'm a UW alumni, this is unofficial, unaffiliated and non-commercial; I just thought it'd be cool to get some info on lures and how to use them ice fishing from a local expert. There's no cost to this, and I don't make any money from any of this stuff. Nevertheless, we'll be in Natural Sports which is a huge fishing store in Kitchener so if you can get out without buying a bunch of stuff you're better than I am.
