What project can bring me to Cali

Title, doing my second coop right now as Java backend and did a React front end before. Will have first algorithm data structure course next term. Also learned some by myself. Recently start doing leetcode but stuck on easy questions. What kind of side project can lead a student to get into Cali? Should I do a compiler or write a language or should I write some web app that can be used by ppl?
