Why do vampires always have to be in hiding????

Seriously it's a pet peeve for me but 9 times outta ten it's always an urban fantasy where they have to hide. And they've been doing it for thousands of years!

Like come on cant we just have a story where vampires are exposed and everyone now knows about them??

I feel like that would be a much more interesting show. Sure they don't hide anymore but then it'd be the government going like

"Ok so they're real, I mean do they deserve rights? They gotta kill people in order to live in mean for God's sake they literally drink blood like it's wine!!"
