Beau's family

If you haven't watched season seven or eight yet. Don't read further.

I've a question: during season seven Beau's mom says she raised all by herself and I took it meaning his father wasn't in the picture. However when Beau is going to propose Stassi he shows his family heirlooms from his dad and aunt (if I remember correctly). So what's going on here?

He also has a sister who lives in Italy, right? What can you tell me about his family?
