Weekend Record Haul
Hit up the local record store past weekend and this was my take home from their new used vinyl collection. I easily could have double or tripled this count based upon what they had recently received to put up for sale. I am a bit neurotic when it comes to my music (ask my wife about my playlists that go from bluegrass to classic rock to 80s pop in the course of three songs) and I am quite happy with this selection. Especially as all of the albums are in near pristine condition. The Cars was an sealed vinyl purchase!!!
The true scores of this haul IMO are the Queen and Jimmy Smith album. Both are original pressings with the Jimmy Smith being the more rare no-frame cover. Doing research there were two editions issued one with and one without a frame cover. Supposedly this is the first entry by Blue Note Records of a Lexington non-frame cover. This is the only difference between the two and I don't think the store realized that as I grabbed this for $50 where Discogs, eBay, and others show it going for $100 (I know price is subjective).
The Queen album is another 1st pressing and it also included a pristine copy of the Bicycle Race poster. Being a huge Queen fan this was icing on the cake for me.
The others are solid albums too:
- The Cars for no other reason that it was an unsealed copy of the album,
- Metallica ... believe it or not ... I had none in my collection (which is understandable as only been collecting for the past year) ..., and who can go wrong with a clear(ish) album
- Supertramp ... everyone knows Breakfast in America but outside of that album I think most underappreciate their other offerings.
